Currently Listening To: Go Jeff Go! – What I’ll Find (Myspace stream)
You know those sharpie-graced bathroom walls you see every time you go to the bar? Well, those bands can graffiti their Myspace link every time they go in there, but who actually takes the time to write it down to check out their music later? That’d be me. I’ll be starting a “Bands From the Bathroom” segment of my blog, doing just that.
Let’s kick off this segment with a scribble from the Bottom Lounge stall.
Go Jeff Go!, a 5-piece band from Buffalo Grove, IL seems to have just gotten started on whatever music endeavor they have in mind. With only three songs posted, this female fronted folk band definitely grabs your attention with their very mellow, life venturing song, What I’ll Find. Immediately I find myself comparing this band to Owen with a bit more tambourine, which I was really starting to dig..
Then the stream moves to the second song, Allison. A more upbeat song than the first, the lyrics do not exactly extract the same feeling. A song about the personal life of a clearly disliked girl, this satire is one I could probably do without.
Overall, not bad for my first sharpie band. To check them out for yourself, go to www.myspace.com/whosjeff.
